Tiles throughout history
Tiles have been popular throughout various stages of history : early tiles have been found both in Egyptian pyramids and in the Greek ruins of the temples of Apollo and Poseidon. In the bygone era, ceramic tiles were made by hand and were dried beneath the sun or baked. Firing tiles in a kiln is a fairly new phenomenon in the tiling industry. Tiles were originally used solely in roofing but, nowadays, are much more popular within the home for use on walls, floors and ceilings.
